Donation and Refund Policy

Tax deductibility

Donations to OEBB are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law. Unless we tell you otherwise, donors receive no goods or services in exchange for a gift.

When a payment includes a benefit, such as a gala ticket that includes dinner, only the amount above the fair market value of that benefit is deductible. We state the deductible amount on the receipt.

How online donations are processed

Online donations are processed securely by Stripe, a PCI-compliant payment processor. OEBB never sees or stores your full card or bank account number.

You may choose to add a small amount to cover card processing fees so that 100% of your intended gift reaches our programs.

Receipts

Every online donation receives an emailed receipt showing the amount, date and our 501(c)(3) status and EIN. Monthly donors receive a receipt for each payment. For a year-end summary of your giving, email donate@openeyesbb.org.

Monthly gifts

Monthly gifts are charged on the same day each month until you cancel. You can cancel a monthly gift or update your card at any time in our secure donor portal (sign in with the email you used to give), or by emailing donate@openeyesbb.org. Changes made at least three business days before the next charge take effect that month.

Refunds

• If you donated by mistake, gave the wrong amount or were charged in error, email donate@openeyesbb.org within 30 days of the donation and we will refund it in full.
• Requests made after 30 days are reviewed case by case.
• Refunds return to the original payment method and usually appear within 5 to 10 business days.
• A refunded donation is no longer tax deductible, and we will void the related receipt.

Designated gifts

When you designate a gift to a program, such as Student Scholarships or Vision Care, we use it for that program. If a program is fully funded or can no longer be carried out, the OEBB board may direct the gift to our area of greatest need, consistent with our mission.
